Frequently Asked Questions
What is this event? Tidewater Builders Association’s 2019 New Homes Tour is a scattered-site event that takes visitors from the Virginia Beach oceanfront, west to Williamsburg and south to northeastern North Carolina.
When is it? Three consecutive weekends from noon to 6 p.m.
Friday, April 26, Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.
Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5.
And Friday, May 10, Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12.
How much? Tickets are $10. This price of admission allows people to see what they want, when they want, during the entire tour.
How does this work? To take the tour, download a free app—757NewHomesTour—to your iPhone (through the App Store) or Android (through the Play Store.) Once downloaded, the app will help with directions, give you information on all the housing sites and provide photos. You can even map out a tour based on your personal geographic preferences. Want to keep notes or take photos and remember which house it was? Do it on the app and it’ll be there.
What are the advantages of a New Homes Tour in this format? The app, created specifically for the tour, allows Tour takers to easily identify and locate homes in all styles and price ranges. They can access some homes that are not currently open to the public or have limited showing hours. Also, some builders will have specific incentives or offerings that are only available to ticket holders.
The Tour is a way for buyers to take a look at new construction in this market and all it offers, including advanced technology, energy efficiency and spaciousness. It also gives buyers the ability to select their favorite appliances, flooring, paint colors and other design elements.
What are the advantages of using the app? App users can pick the homes they want to see, and the app will map out the best route for them to tour. This app allows the user to create a customized itinerary using the “Add to Plan My Day” icon. App users can narrow their search for a new dream home by city, house square footage, and price point.
In most cases, New Homes Tour takers are walking into fully merchandised homes, some that have not yet been shown to the public.
What new construction sites does this app cover? The app features 32 new construction homes by 23 builders in Chesapeake, Elizabeth City, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Suffolk, Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.
What happens if I’m not a tech person or don’t use a smart phone? No prob! You can find a list of homes on the tour at www.757newhomestour.com and in the complimentary “Tour Guide” available at every home on the New Homes Tour.
Why can’t I just have a real estate agent to take me to the homes? We can understand how it would appear that if you accompanied your real estate agent to our homes, their ticket would be yours. But, for the New Homes Tour, tickets are per person entry and good for as many visits as you’d like. Your real estate agent would have ticketed entry to the homes, but you would not. And should you choose to visit homes without your real estate agent--maybe you are out and about and near a home that interests you-- your agent and their ticket wouldn’t be with you.
